How to be a SAHM (when you have no idea how)

Prior to this year, I worked a typical job that only allowed me to be home with my son in the evenings and on weekends. This year however, I finally landed my dream job as a special education teacher and my schedule totally changed. I was able to be home with Pax way more and enjoy several weeks off during the Christmas season and spring. And now that school is out and summer has started, I have the next 2.5 months to be home with him!
While I was SUPER excited about getting to spend all of this time with him I also started to get anxious because I have no clue how to be a stay at home mom. I didn't want to waste the time I had with him or just hang around the house doing chores because that was all I could think to do. So, I spent a lot of time reading other mom blogs and looking at event calendars for the Oklahoma City area to help me plan out how to best spend this summer.
I came up with a way to spend each day of the week that integrates chores, cuddles (because you can never have too many), and fun!
Here's a look at how I've organized each day...

Make it Monday: Try a new fun craft or food! Make a Pinterest board to save ideas (or follow mine).
Take a Trip Tuesday: Visit a museum. Go to the zoo. Walk to the park. Get ice cream. Just go somewhere and have fun!
Water Fun Wednesday: Head to the splash pad or play in your own backyard!
Time to Read Thursday: Visit your local library. Look for new books and read them together.
Fun Friday: Arrange a playdate, have family lunch with daddy, play at the kids gym, go shopping... just have FUN!
I also wrote out how I'd like each day to flow in my bullet journal (if you don't have one, get one!). Of course I know each day will not go to plan (nothing ever does having a toddler), but it's helpful to have a general idea of how to move through each day and build a routine for a child. Routine is essential!
Here's our daily schedule:
Wake up!
Breakfast
Get dressed/Brush teeth
Exercise time
Snack
Daily Activity
Lunch
Chores
Quiet time/nap
Snack
Playtime
TV/Cook dinner
Eat dinner
Playtime/Go for a walk
Bath/Story time
Bed time
I am so excited about spending these next few months at home with my boy and watching him grow and learn. It's so important to me that I don't waste this time, but enjoy every minute of it and foster our relationship. Here's to sweet summertime and the SAHM life!
