Halloween has never been my favorite holiday. I am more the type of person who is singing Christmas carols and painting ornaments before November even turns the corner. There is one big part of the orange and black night however, that gets me excited and sugar crazed every time...

Costumes!

Since we started dating, my husband and I have always gotten a big kick out of trying to find the best and most unique 'couple costumes' and then making them ourselves. It's a great way to re-connect, have fun, and get creative together.

So if you're looking for a unique costume idea to rock with your boo here's a few we have tried.

Year One: Ash Ketchum and Pikachu.

Because who doesn't love a good throw back to one of the greatest 90's cartoons, am I right?

Year Two: R2D2 and C3P0.

Let's face it. Star Wars is never going out of style. And although my husband wishes all the photographic evidence of this costume was lost to the abyss, it got a lot of laughs and was a blast to make.

PS. Check out our friends who rocked it as Katy Perry and Left Shark! Another ingenious idea.

Year Three: Fred, Daphne, and Scooby-Doo!

Last year when Paxton joined the clan, it made costume creation all the more enjoyable because we went from couple costumes to family costumes! We fully embraced it and even took Pax out to some happenings in the city. Sure, he will probably be embarrassed we made him do this some day and will insist on his own costume, but for now, it's momma's choice ;)

And that brings us to year four, this year!

Drumroll please...

The TuneSquad featuring Bugs Bunny, Lola, and the Tasmanian Devil!

These outfits got us quite a few laughs, thumbs up, and celebrated 90's nostalgia we all need every now and then.

Halloween may not be my favorite Holiday of them all, but this tradition is right at the top of my list. I love teaming up with my husband to come up with an idea, then working together, and seeing it come to life. I promise you, there is nothing like fabric painting and hot glue burning your fingers to bring a couple closer together.

Marriage and family is all about teamwork, laughing together, and simply being together. Being together in the big moments that matter most and the ones that just involve candy and playing dress-up.
