A lot has happened over the last few months. I started a new job in August and welcomed our first baby boy into the world on September 19th. Amid the revolving door of family and friends coming in and out of our house, the dozens of diaper changes and midnight feedings, it suddenly dawned on me. I hadn't opened my Bible in months. Yes, months. Sure, I had been praying and praying often. But I hadn't given the time or opportunity for God to speak back to me. Standing in the kitchen, this thought came to me without the slightest warning or reason. It truly felt like the Holy Spirit just walked through the door with the dozes of other guests, and said "oh hey, by the way. have you thought about reading the Word lately?"
Within five minutes, I was sitting at the kitchen table with my prayer journal, Bible, assorted colored pencils, and of course, a steaming cup of coffee. At first, I didn't know where to start. But that's the beauty of Pinterest friends. I recently pinned a list of verses that each reveal a promise from God. What better way to start a day than hearing reassurance from the Lord?
I'm only on Day 4, but I have already been amazed by the words I have read and the promises that have been given to me. A promise that I will remain in the Father. A promise that I will be cleansed from all impurities. A promise that God's got this. A promise that the Lord is compassionate and gracious. As someone who struggles with anxiety, it is so life-giving to be reassured daily I don't have to do it all on my own, nor have I ever been asked to!
I am excited to continue on this journey of discovery and promise, and look forward to sharing my thoughts with all of you. Hopefully, you can delight in a bit of coffee with Jesus too.
